Thoughts on Unity

Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. – Ephesians 4:2-5

Unity does not mean we think alike on every issue. (God gave us brains for a reason)

Unity does not mean we morph into the other person’s ideology and lose who God created us to be. (that’s codependency)

Unity does not mean we disregard our beliefs to embrace another. (that’s stupid… sorry… that’s the word that came to mind)

What does Unity mean??? As much as it depends on us, we walk in love and in peace with others.

Unity means we are mature enough that we can respectfully agree to disagree.

Unity means we appreciate and honor our differences and similarities as we encourage one another to stay true to God’s design for our lives according to our places in the whole body of Christ.

Unity means we are wise enough to know that we do not have everything figured out. It’s not my way or the highway. It’s humility in operation as we walk in truth by living in the Word and constantly growing.

My heart burns with desire to see the body of Christ walking together on earth even as the body of Christ walks in Heaven. So I pray

Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Matthew 6:10
